Precision Machining Training Program

Precision Machining Training is a 10 week (280 hours) hands-on program that provides students with the skills needed to fill high-demand machining positions for Lehigh Valley and Pocono businesses. Participants will gain foundational skills in manufacturing including safety; reading blue prints; shop math; measurement and the use of calipers and Vernier scales; and operating drills, lathes and milling machines. An introduction to CNC (computer numerical control) machining is also covered. Instruction will focus on preparing students to sit for specified National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certifications. Occupational skill building and workplace employability skills, as well as OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach training, are also included in the curriculum.

 

Program Details

Classes will be held for 10 weeks in early June through mid-August. The cost is completely FREE for those who qualify! Participants must meet the following requirements to be considered for the program:

  • Be at least 18 years of age,
  • Have a high school diploma/GED,
  • Be authorized to work in the US and be a resident of Pennsylvania,
  • Pass a drug screen test,
  • Complete a math assessment at the 8th grade level, and
  • Attend an Information Session.
