Grants

The Federal Pell Grant is available to undergraduate students with financial need based on their FAFSA submitted

The PA State Grant offers funding to thousands of Pennsylvania resident students going to a college/university also located in Pennsylvania. Grant funding can be over $4,000 per academic year to eligible students and the application is due May 1st every year. Students who are first-year community college students have until August 1st to apply.

This program provides assistance to PA active volunteers in good standing in a Pennsylvania volunteer fire company or emergency medical service agency. Must be enrolled in a degree-granting or certificate-granting curriculum, course of study, or training program.

PA Targeted Industry Program provides up to $6,000 in funding for eligible students pursuing a degree in high demand job fields. These programs currently include Energy, Health, Advanced Materials and Diversified Manufacturing, along with Agriculture and Food Production.

The FosterEd Program provides a waiver for tuition and mandatory fees charged by most postsecondary institutions located in the Commonwealth for youth who are or were in foster care.

This federally funded program offers grants up to $5,000 per year to students who were in foster care after the age of 16, are under 26 years old, and live in Pennsylvania.

The RTSS Program, in combination with the PA State Grant Program, provides scholarships to high academic achievers to cover the cost of attendance. Up to $2,500 for full-time and $1,250 for part-time students in total awards are offered in the 2022-23 academic year. The minimum award is $500.

Loans

Direct Subsidized Loans are available to undergraduate students with financial need based on their FAFSA submitted. The federal government will pay the interest on a subsidized loan while you are in school and during any grace period.
  • First-Year undergraduate students can borrow up to $3,500 for the academic year ($1,750 per semester) if they meet maximum financial need. Second-Year undergraduate students can accept up to $4,500 ($2,225 per semester).

Direct Unsubsidized Loans are available to eligible undergraduate and graduate students regardless of your financial need from the FAFSA. Interest on these loans begins to accrue from the point when they’re disbursed to the college. Direct Unsubsidized Loan limits are subject to the amount of subsidized loan accepted and whether you count as a dependent/independent student.
